The Directorate of Employment & Training, Government of Gujarat has been in the forefront of implementing various skill-building programmes with the aim of helping people get jobs and this, in-turn facilitates industrial development. At present there are 145 ITIs and 43 employment exchanges functioning under this Directorate. More than 5542 people working under the Directorate is imparting training to around 50,540 people per annum and assisting around 1.31 lakh people to get employment through employment exchanges.

Industrial Training Institute plays a vital role in technical manpower required for the Industry. Bhilad is situated at the centre of Vapi GIDC, Sarigam GIDC & Umbergaon GIDC which are a cluster of Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical etc., industries. Fifty one Special Economy Zones (SEZ) are coming up at various locations in Gujarat which will further accelerate economic and industrial growth of the state. Bhilad ITI is selected as a “Centre of Excellence - Fabrication Sector” so that to provide variety of skill work force to local Industries.

Industrial Training Institute, Bhilad under the Directorate of Employment Training, Gandhingar was initially set-up in the year of 1987 as a MINI-ITI. The Institute has covered 7.5 acres including Administrative Block & Workshop. The Institute is engaged in imparting training in scheme of NCVT, GCVT as well as short term courses with the capacity of 220 trainees. The objective of the CTS scheme is to provide semi-skilled/skilled workers to industry by systematic training to school leavers & to reduce unemployment among educated youth by equipping them with suitable skills for industrial employment. The Industrial Training Institute, Bhilad is covered under TASP ( Tribal Area Sub Plan ) so 100 % section seats are given stipend of Rs. 200/- per month to Scheduled Tribe candidate. The institute is functioning in two shifts commencing from 7.30 A.M. to 6.15 P.M. With a view to provide technically qualified man-power required for various industries and to be helpful to provide employment, the Institute is carrying over different Informal sector Short term courses. More over Institute is giving Spoken English training to all trade trainees for improve their communication skill in English.
