The Directorate of Employment & Training, Government of Gujarat has been in the forefront of implementing various skill-building programmes with the aim of helping people get jobs and this, in-turn facilitates industrial development.
At present there are 145 ITIs and 43 employment exchanges functioning under this Directorate.

To raise the quality & quantity of industrial production by systematic training of workers.To reduce unemployment amongst the educated youth by equipping them for suitable industrial employment.
Centre of Excellence – Fabrication ( Fitting & Welding ) Sector
The aim of Centre of Excellence is to produce appropriately qualified and career prospects that meet the needs of the economy. It will enable development, maintenance and delivery across a range of new and traditional occupations. It will be innovative in delivering training and develop both specialist and related general skills. This Centre of Excellence will cater to the skill requirements of the cluster of industries in the particular areas by organizing multi-skilled courses.
Demand driven short term training courses based on Modular Employable Skills (MES) decided in consultation with Industry. MES is the ‘minimum skills set’ which is sufficient for gainful employment.
Central government will facilitate and promote training while industry, private sector and State Governments will train the persons.
Optimum utilization of existing infrastructure to make training cost effective.
Flexible delivery mechanism (part time, weekends, full time, onsite/ offsite) to suit needs of various target groups.
